PROBLEMATIKA PELAFALAN MAHASISWA ASING ASAL TIMOR-LESTE DI UNIVERSITAS MURIA KUDUS

This study aims to identify pronunciation problems among foreign students from Timor Leste at Muria Kudus University. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method with an elicitation technique using data cards containing 15 words. The researcher pronounced the words, and the students were asked to repeat them. The results revealed pronunciation errors at the phonemic level, such as the change of /e/ to /é/ in words like dermawan, penggaris, pemalu, menggambar, and egrang, as well as /ŋ/ to /r/ in mendengarkan. Phoneme additions such as /ng/ and /ll/, and reductions of /r/, /e/, and /n/ in certain words were also observed.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi masalah pelafalan pada mahasiswa asing asal Timor-Leste di Universitas Muria Kudus. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik elicitation melalui kartu data berisi 15 kata. Peneliti mengucapkan kata, dan mahasiswa diminta unyuk mengulanginnya. Hasil menunjukkan kesalahan pelafalan pada tataran fonem, seperti perubahan /e/ menjadi /é/ pada kata dermawan, penggaris, pemalu, menggambar, dan egrang, serta /ŋ/ menjadi /r/ pada mendengarkan. Ditemukan pula penambahan fonem seperti /ng/ dan /ll, serta pengurangan fonem /r/, /e/, dan /n/ pada kata tertentu.
