Abstrak

Penelitian ini mengkaji pemikiran Maulana Syaikh Tuan Guru Kiyai Haji Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Majid dalam penyebaran Islam di Lombok melalui perpaduan ajaran Islam dan budaya Sasak. Kajian ini melihat bagaimana gagasan dan strateginya membentuk pola keberagamaan masyarakat yang rasional dan berakhlak. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, lalu dianalisis dengan tahapan reduksi, penyajian, dan verifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemikiran Maulana Syaikh Tuan Guru Kiyai Haji Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Majid dalam menyebarkan Islam di Lombok terwujud melalui pendirian pesantren, pembentukan organisasi keagamaan, dan pengembangan lembaga pendidikan Islam formal. Ketiga upaya ini memperkuat dakwah secara kultural dan struktural serta melahirkan generasi yang berilmu, berakhlak, dan berjiwa perjuangan. Melalui gagasan dan pengamalannya, beliau berhasil menanamkan nilai-nilai Islam yang mengakar di masyarakat Lombok, sehingga daerah ini berkembang sebagai salah satu pusat penting Islam di kawasan Indonesia timur. Implikasi penelitian ini menegaskan peran penting Maulana Syaikh dalam penguatan dakwah dan pendidikan Islam di Indonesia. Pemikirannya menunjukkan bahwa perpaduan pendidikan, budaya, dan kelembagaan membuat dakwah lebih efektif, sekaligus memperkuat wacana integrasi Islam dan budaya lokal serta membuka peluang penelitian lanjutan berbasis tradisi Nusantara.

This study examines the thought of Maulana Syaikh Tuan Guru Kiyai Haji Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Majid in spreading Islam in Lombok through the integration of Islamic teachings with Sasak cultural traditions. It explores how his ideas and strategies shaped a more rational and ethical religious orientation among the community. The data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The findings show that his contributions to Islamic propagation in Lombok were reflected in the establishment of pesantren, the formation of religious and social organizations, and the development of formal Islamic educational institutions. These efforts strengthened both cultural and structural forms of dakwah and produced generations who are knowledgeable, ethical, and driven by a spirit of religious struggle. Through his ideas and their implementation, he succeeded in embedding Islamic values deeply within Lombok society, making the region one of the important centers of Islamic development in eastern Indonesia. The implications of this study highlight Maulana Syaikh’s significant role in strengthening Islamic dakwah and education in Indonesia. His thought demonstrates that combining education, culture, and institutional development can enhance the effectiveness of dakwah. These findings also support the discourse on integrating Islam with local culture and open opportunities for further research on Islamic dakwah and education rooted in Nusantara traditions.
