PROGRAM EDUKASI DAN INSTALASI TRADITIONAL WATER PURIFIER (TWF) BERBASIS BATU GAMPING–KARBON AKTIF SISA PENAMBANGAN UNTUK PENYEDIAAN AIR WUDHU DI MASJID MIFTAHUL JANNAH, DESA BURAI, KABUPATEN OGAN ILIR

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas air bersih bagi Masjid Miftahul Jannah di Desa Burai, Kabupaten Ogan Ilir, melalui penyuluhan dan instalasi alat Traditional Water Purifier (TWF) berbasis batu gamping dan karbon aktif. Desa Burai merupakan desa wisata berbasis perairan, sehingga ketersediaan air yang jernih, tidak berbau, dan aman menjadi kebutuhan penting bagi kenyamanan masyarakat dan wisatawan. Tim melaksanakan edukasi terkait teknik filtrasi sederhana, perawatan alat, serta pentingnya pengelolaan air bersih dalam mendukung kegiatan ibadah dan kegiatan wisata. Alat penjernih air yang digunakan merupakan hasil rancangan dan modifikasi, terdiri atas TWF Filter 0,3 mikron sebagai media filtrasi partikel halus dan TWF Carbon Active 0,3 mikron untuk menghilangkan bau, warna, dan senyawa organik terlarut. Kombinasi media batu gamping dan karbon aktif menghasilkan sistem penjernihan berbiaya rendah, mudah diaplikasikan, dan sesuai dengan kebutuhan lingkungan berbasis perairan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman masyarakat, tersedianya fasilitas air bersih yang lebih baik untuk keperluan ibadah, serta potensi pemanfaatan alat TWF sebagai bagian dari infrastruktur dasar penunjang desa wisata.
This community service program aims to improve the quality of clean water for Miftahul Jannah Mosque in Burai Village, Ogan Ilir Regency, through awareness activities and the installation of a Traditional Water Purifier (TWF) system utilizing limestone and activated carbon. Burai Village is being developed as a water-based tourism village; therefore, the availability of clear, odorless, and safe water is essential for both residents and visitors. The team conducted educational sessions on simple filtration techniques, equipment maintenance, and the importance of proper clean-water management to support religious activities and tourism. The water purification system applied in this program is a modified design consisting of a TWF Filter (0.3 micron) for fine-particle filtration and a TWF Carbon Active (0.3 micron) unit for deodorization, color removal, and adsorption of dissolved organic compounds. The combination of limestone and activated carbon provides a low-cost, easy-to-implement purification solution adapted to the hydrological characteristics of the village. The results indicate improved community understanding, enhanced access to cleaner water for daily and religious use, and the potential integration of the TWF system as part of the basic infrastructure supporting the village’s water-based tourism development.
