MEMBANGUN KARAKTERISTIK SISWA MELALUI PENGELOLAAN KANTIN SEHAT DAN PEMBIASAAN HIDUP BERSIH DI SD NEGERI 1 KEMBANG SARI

Kantin sekolah bukan hanya tempat siswa membeli makanan, tetapi juga ruang belajar karakter melalui pengalaman nyata dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Berdasarkan hasil observasi di SDN 1 Kembangsari, ditemukan bahwa pengelolaan kantin sebelumnya kurang efektif karena sistemnya tertutup dan sulit diawasi. Kondisi tersebut menimbulkan perilaku kurang jujur dan tidak tertib saat bertransaksi. Setelah dilakukan pembenahan oleh pihak sekolah, kantin dipindahkan ke area dekat lapangan dengan sistem pengelolaan baru berbentuk prasmanan dan diawasi langsung oleh dua petugas kantin. Perubahan ini membawa dampak positif terhadap perilaku siswa, terutama dalam hal kejujuran, tanggung jawab, dan kedisiplinan. Siswa mulai terbiasa mengantri, membayar dengan benar, serta menjaga kebersihan area kantin. Selain itu, pembiasaan hidup bersih dan sehat (PHBS) yang telah menjadi budaya sekolah turut memperkuat nilai-nilai karakter seperti peduli lingkungan dan tanggung jawab sosial. Melalui kegiatan rutin seperti mencuci tangan, menjaga kebersihan kelas, dan kegiatan bina lingkungan setiap Sabtu, sekolah berhasil menumbuhkan kesadaran kolektif tentang pentingnya perilaku bersih, sehat, dan berkarakter. Temuan ini memperlihatkan bahwa pengelolaan kantin sehat yang terintegrasi dengan budaya hidup bersih dapat menjadi sarana efektif dalam membangun karakter positif siswa sekolah dasar.
The school canteen is not just a place for students to buy food, but also a space for character learning through real-life experiences. Based on observations at SDN 1 Kembangsari, it was found that the previous canteen management was ineffective because the system was closed and difficult to cover. This condition gave rise to dishonest behavior and disorderly transactions. After improvements were made by the school, the canteen was moved to an area near the field with a new management system in the form of a buffet and served directly by two canteen staff. This change had a positive impact on student behavior, especially in terms of honesty, responsibility, and discipline. Students began to get used to queuing, paying correctly, and maintaining the cleanliness of the canteen area. In addition, the habit of clean and healthy living (PHBS), which has become a school culture, also strengthens character values such as environmental care and social responsibility. Through routine activities such as washing hands, maintaining classroom cleanliness, and community development activities every Saturday, the school has succeeded in fostering collective awareness of the importance of clean, healthy, and character-building behavior. These findings suggest that managing a healthy canteen integrated with a culture of clean living can be an effective tool for building positive character in elementary school students.
