Abstrak

Pain is known as the fifth vital sign and is a signal of decreased physiological function of most organs of the body. Many patients in the intensive care unit due to their medical condition, cause the patient to be unconscious or use a ventilator, so they cannot communicate their pain. Some intensive care unit patients cannot communicate effectively, while the self-report method is still the 'gold standard' in pain assessment according to the guidelines of the International Association for The Study of Pain. (Priambodo et al., 2017). The purpose of this community service is to analyze the factors that cause the suboptimal assessment of pain in patients with decreased consciousness in the ICU RSI Aminah Blitar and to find methods in assessing pain in patients with decreased consciousness. Activities carried out by: making pocket books, socialization, discussions followed by webinars, the results of the evaluation are an increase in knowledge of pain assessment in patients with decreased consciousness in the ICU RSI Aminah Blitar after socialization and webinar. The results of the comparison of pain assessments conducted and documented in the pain observation and screening sheets in the ICU RSI Aminah Blitar before and after the socialization activities, using the Mann-Weathny test, showed significant changes.Pain is known as the fifth vital sign and is a signal of decreased physiological function of most organs of the body.
