KEMAMPUAN BERPIKIR KREATIF SISWA DALAM MENYELESAIKAN SOAL OPEN-ENDED MATERI ARITMETIKA SOSIAL DITINJAU DARI KEMAMPUAN MATEMATIKA

Abstrak

This study aims to describe the creative thinking ability of junior high school students in solving open-ended problems on social arithmetic material in terms of students' mathematical abilities. This qualitative descriptive study involved three seventh-grade students as research subjects: one student with high mathematical ability, one with moderate mathematical ability, and one with low mathematical ability. The research instruments were a mathematical ability test, a creative thinking ability test, and interview guidelines. Data was collected by giving a mathematical ability test to 33 seventh-grade students from one of the state junior high schools in Surabaya. The second test was to give a creative thinking ability test to three students who met the criteria. The study results showed that students with high mathematical abilities were included in the very creative category by meeting the indicators of fluency, flexibility, and novelty. Students who had moderate mathematical abilities were included in the creative category by meeting the indicators of fluency and novelty. Students who had low mathematical abilities were included in the non-creative category because they did not meet the indicators of fluency, flexibility, and novelty.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa SMP dalam menyelesaikan soal open-ended materi aritmetika sosial ditinjau dari kemampuan matematika siswa. Penelitian deskriptif kualitatif ini melibatkan tiga siswa kelas VII sebagai subjek penelitian yang terdiri dari satu siswa dengan kemampuan matematika tinggi, satu siswa dengan kemampuan matematika sedang, dan satu siswa dengan kemampuan matematika rendah. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes kemampuan matematika, tes kemampuan berpikir kreatif, dan pedoman wawancara. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan pemberian tes kemampuan matematika kepada 33 siswa kelas VII dari salah satu SMP Negeri di Surabaya. Tes kedua yaitu memberikan tes kemampuan berpikir kreatif kepada tiga siswa yang memenuhi kriteria. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa yang memiliki kemampuan matematika tinggi termasuk dalam kategori sangat kreatif dengan memenuhi indikator fluency, flexibility, dan novelty. Siswa yang memiliki kemampuan matematika sedang termasuk dalam kategori kreatif dengan memenuhi indikator fluency, dan novelty. Siswa yang memiliki kemampuan matematika rendah termasuk dalam kategori tidak kreatif karena tidak memenuhi indikator fluency, flexibility, dan novelty.
