ANALISIS KESIAPAN KERJA MAHASISWA TEKNIK MESIN MELALUI MAGANG BERBASIS KURIKULUM MERDEKA BELAJAR

Abstrak

Perubahan pesat dalam sektor industri menuntut lulusan teknik mesin tidak hanya unggul dalam aspek akademik, tetapi juga memiliki keterampilan praktis. Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar merupakan inovasi pendidikan yang memberikan peluang bagi mahasiswa untuk memperoleh pengalaman langsung melalui program magang. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji sejauh mana magang yang diselenggarakan dalam kerangka Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar berkontribusi terhadap kesiapan kerja mahasiswa Teknik Mesin. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi literatur dengan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan magang berperan penting dalam meningkatkan kemampuan teknis, soft skills, adaptasi, serta kesiapan mental mahasiswa untuk memasuki dunia kerja profesional.

The rapid advancement of industrial technology in the era of Industry 4.0 demands mechanical engineering graduates to be equipped not only with theoretical knowledge but also with practical and professional skills. The Merdeka Belajar (Freedom to Learn) curriculum is an educational innovation that allows students to gain real-world work experience through internships in the industry. This study aims to examine the extent to which internships under this curriculum contribute to students' work readiness. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive approach through literature review, the research highlights that industry-based internships significantly enhance students’ technical competencies, soft skills, adaptability, and mental preparedness for entering the professional world. The findings also identify various challenges, such as limited industry partners and curriculum mismatch, while offering recommendations to optimize the implementation of internship programs in higher education institutions.
