Christian Religious Education (CRE) faces significant challenges in the contemporary era characterized by religious plurality and moral relativism. These phenomena, accelerated by globalization and postmodern thought, threaten the formation of Christian identity and values among learners. This article examines the challenges posed by plurality and relativism to CRE and proposes a contextually relevant reorientation framework grounded in theological integrity. Employing a qualitative method through systematic literature review, this study analyzes scholarly perspectives on CRE within pluralistic and relativistic contexts. The findings indicate that CRE requires reorientation in three interconnected dimensions: theological, pedagogical, and curricular. Theologically, CRE must firmly affirm Christian identity while cultivating an appreciative and dialogical attitude toward religious differences. Pedagogically, a transformative and critical approach is necessary to equip learners to engage constructively with pluralism without succumbing to relativism. Curricularly, relevant content must integrate core Christian values with contemporary contextual realities. This reorientation enables CRE to maintain its relevance in a pluralistic society without compromising its distinctive character as education rooted in Christian faith. The results contribute to the development of CRE theory and practice within the multicultural context of Indonesia.
