EFEKTIVITAS MODEL PEMBELAJARAN PROBLEM BASED LEARNING (PBL) TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN PEMAHAMAN KONSEP MATEMATIS SISWA PADA MATERI MATRIKS KELAS XI SMA NEGERI 4 PEMATANGSIANTAR

Abstrak

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa pada materi matriks di kelas XI SMA Negeri 4 Pematangsiantar. Metode yang digunakan adalah quasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian nonequivalent control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI, dan sampel terdiri dari dua kelas yang dipilih secara purposive, yaitu satu kelas sebagai kelas eksperimen yang menggunakan model PBL dan satu kelas sebagai kelas kontrol yang menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes pemahaman konsep matematis dalam bentuk uraian. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa yang belajar dengan model PBL lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan siswa yang belajar secara konvensional. Dengan demikian, model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa pada materi matriks.

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on students' mathematical conceptual understanding in the topic of matrices in Grade XI of SMA Negeri 4 Pematangsiantar. The research method used is quasi-experimental with a nonequivalent control group design. The population of this study includes all Grade XI students, and the sample consists of two purposively selected classes: one experimental class using the PBL model and one control class using conventional learning. The instrument used is a mathematical conceptual understanding test in the form of essay questions. Data analysis results show that the average improvement in conceptual understanding is higher in students taught using the PBL model compared to those taught conventionally. Therefore, the Problem Based Learning model is effective in enhancing students’ mathematical conceptual understanding on the topic of matrices.
