AbstractThe principal assumes a pivotal leadership role in school management and enhancing the standard of education. The managerial proficiency of the principal stands as the primary determinant in attaining the educational objectives set forth. Moreover, extracurricular activities are focal points in fostering quality education, aimed at nurturing and harnessing students' potential, interests, and talents. This study investigates the managerial competencies of school principals in augmenting the quality of extracurricular engagements at SMKS TI Muhammadiyah 11 Sibuluan, serving as a case study of successful reinstatement post the COVID-19 pandemic repercussions. Employing field research with a qualitative descriptive approach, data collection methods encompass observation, interviews, and documentation. Findings reveal the pivotal role of school principals in fostering and enhancing the caliber of extracurricular activities within schools. 1) The principal formulates a comprehensive and inclusive policy, representing a crucial stride in elevating the standard of extracurricular pursuits. This policy encompasses elements such as open enrollment, stipulated minimum membership, faculty supervisor training, participation in competitions, and recognition of student accomplishments. 2) The developmental process of extracurricular activities entails planning, delegation of tasks, execution, and monitoring and evaluation stages, with the principal actively ensuring the efficiency and efficacy of each phase. Thirdly, school principals undertake diverse roles in advocating for and propelling extracurricular activities, spanning from promotional efforts, and task allocation, to fostering student motivation and offering commendations to students and supervisory faculty. Cultivating positive relationships with students' parents emerges as pivotal in garnering support. Lastly, challenges like student apathy, resource constraints, and parental involvement limitations can be navigated through apt strategies. Opportunities to enhance the quality of extracurricular activities abound through collaborative endeavors, training initiatives, and support from diverse stakeholders.
